Terms of Service

Last updated: March 5, 2026

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Merit (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Description of Service

Merit is a mobile application that restricts access to user-selected apps until the user physically arrives at a designated location. The Service uses GPS-based location verification and Apple’s Screen Time APIs to manage app restrictions on your device.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Merit. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent.

User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
  • You agree not to attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the app restriction mechanisms.
  • You acknowledge that Merit requires location permissions and Screen Time access to function, and you grant these permissions voluntarily.

Disclaimer

Merit is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that the app will meet all of your expectations. App blocking relies on iOS system APIs which may change or behave differently across device models and OS versions.

Limitation of Liability

Merit and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, missed notifications, inability to access apps in emergencies, or inaccurate location detection.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Merit at our discretion. You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app and requesting account deletion.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of Merit after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notice.
